Turmeric Chicken Soup 🥣

Ingredients

  • 1 lb chicken thighs, chopped

  • 1 tbsp ghee

  • 1 tsp cumin seeds

  • 1 tsp mustard seeds

  • 1 medium onion, chopped

  • 1-inch piece fresh ginger, grated

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tsp turmeric powder

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • ½ tsp cayenne (optional, but great to break up sluggishness)

  • 4 cups broth (bone or veggie)

  • 2 medium carrots, diced

  • 2 celery stalks, chopped

  • ½ cup cilantro, chopped

  • Juice of ½ lemon

  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat the ghee in a pot over medium heat. Add cumin and mustard seeds, letting them sizzle for 30 seconds.

  2. Add the onion and cook until it begins to turn translucent.

  3. Stir in ginger and garlic, sautéing until fragrant.

  4. Add the chicken and cook until lightly browned.

  5. Sprinkle in turmeric, black pepper, and cayenne, stirring well.

  6. Pour in the broth and bring to a simmer. Add carrots and celery, cooking until tender (about 15 minutes).

  7. Stir in cilantro and squeeze in fresh lemon juice. Season with salt to taste.

  8. Serve warm and let your body feel the shift.
